 OBSERVATION ON TEACHERS

    1.    Planning for Teaching

Making a lesson plan or a teaching plan is one of the most essential things that a teacher must consider. The lesson plan acts as a roadmap to keep the class moving forward and to lead what to do next.

According to my observations, the teachers are well-prepared before entering the classroom. They were able to properly plan the lessons. As what I’ve witnessed, they used PowerPoint presentations, laptop, and projectors in teaching their students. Students were attentive because they know that the teacher is well-prepared and organized.

Teachers are primarily concerned with what is written in their lesson plan. They just stick to it.

2.   Preparing Lessons and Materials

Based on my observation, both of my teachers use the semi-detailed lesson plans. Semi-detailed lesson plan is quite short because it simply contains the procedures on handling the class discussions. The responses of students and at the same time of teachers are not visible in the semi-detailed lesson plan, simply the step-by-step process.

When it comes to materials, they always practice using materials such as computer, laptop projector, PowerPoint, and guidebooks. The teacher teaches according to the lesson plan she has created. Starting from greeting up to giving assignments.

3.   Teaching in Class

Based on my observation, the teacher class is quite similar to the teaching procedures in the Philippines. The class always starts with the preliminary activity. In this part, the teacher conducts activities such as greeting, asks students to prepare themselves, prepares textbooks, asks a class leader to lead prayers, check attendance and the last gave motivation on topics to be discussed to make students more enthusiastic with the lessons.

After the presentation of topics, the teacher will then present the learning objectives that the students should meet after the class. They thoroughly explain one-by-one the objectives. Then the teacher will start from the lesson proper step. In this part, the teacher presents the topic of the lesson. After that, the teacher asked students to discuss and gave some questions about the topic.

When the students already have the knowledge of the said topic, students will do an activity may it be in group or individual. Teachers will assess whether they learned some from the topic being discussed. After assessment, the teacher will have a reinforcement to the topic. When the students have no question to the topic, the teacher will then close the class through a prayer.

4.   Measurement and Evaluation

According to my observations, the teacher provides an evaluation when the chapter discussion is over. End of Semester Assessment (PAT) is an activity carried out by educators to measure students' competency achievement at the end of the semester. The scope of the assessor includes all indicators that represent all KD in that semester. The assessment maybe in the form of multiple-choice questions or problem-solving exercises.

Students are making batik as their kind of measurement and evaluation on their subject.

Taking an assessment test after the class discussion.
